Mert Sheppard

Mert Sheppard passed away on Monday (January 30) from cancer. He was undergoing treatmen for the past year, but in recent months and weeks the disease had spread throughout his body.

His companion, Harriet said he was peaceful at the end. His remains were cremated and there were no local services.

Although he moved away several years ago, he "loved" and missed the band. He will be remembered by many of us!

Rest in Peace, "Hobo Mert".

Harold Crouch Ca. 1991

Long-time trumpet player, former business manager and life member Harold Crouch passed away at home after a one-year battle with cancer, just a few days shy of his 73rd birthday. At his side were his wife, Terry, and sons Kevin and Sean. Viewing was from 6-9 pm, Friday, February 10, 2012 at St. Joseph's Parish Center, 2 Lamplighter Lane, Woodstown, NJ. The Salem Legion Band was requested to perform at the viewing. The Funeral service was at the same location on Saturday, February 11, 2012.

The Hobo Band members appeared at 10:30 to play during the service, and again at the cemetery. A motor procession throughout the town center passed Harold's home and office on the way to the cemetery.
